Acupuncture and Holistic Therapies by Mia Dequine
Specializing in fertility, sports medicine, digestion, and stress and anxiety management, Mia's approach is rooted in a holistic philosophy that harmonizes mind, body, and spirit. Through acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications, we aim to enhance your quality of life and promote long-lasting health.
Acupuncture works by using hair thin needles to access the Qi (pronounced "chee") or vital energy at acupoints, and manipulating that energy in specific ways. One can either supplement, drain, or move the Qi in order to restore the proper flow of energy through the meridians (pathways for Qi) in the body.

Why Chinese Medicine?
Chinese medicine views the body as an interconnected system, treating the root cause of health issues rather than just the symptoms. This approach can lead to more comprehensive and lasting healing.
Is Chinese Medicine Complimentary to Western Medicine?
Yes! It can be used alongside conventional treatments, providing an integrative approach that combines the best of both worlds for enhanced health outcomes.

"I needed to share my experience and gratitude for the care and skill that Mia performed. I woke up with severe pain on the left side of my face as it was swollen. I saw top doctors
from dentists to ENT doctors across south Miami. None of them knew what was going on with my face. I contacted Mia and she immediately booked me into her schedule. My wife and I were welcomed, Mia evaluated what my symptoms were and she guided me through her process to understand what my body was going through. 45 minutes later the swelling went down and my body was back to normal. I highly recommend Mia and her practice as she took good care of me throughout the treatment and she cured what highly trained experts could not understand. I highly recommend her to all my friends and family."

"I went to see Dr. Dequine for alternative medicine due to the demands of a heavy workload and intense marathon training, which had left me with a foggy memory and worsened ADD symptoms. At the time, I was runningabout 50 miles per week in the final phase of my training, and I needed a solution to stay mentally and physically strong. Dr. Dequine's consultation was thorough and genuine; we discussed a range of issues to develop the bestapproach for my needs. I began acupuncture twice a week for the first four weeks and then transitioned to once a week after that. The results were remarkable: my memory cleared up, I could focus at my usual level, and my sleep quality improved noticeably. Even my muscle recovery between long runs was significantly better. I highly recommend Dr. Dequine to anyone looking for effective, holistic support for both physical and mental challenges"

I've had the privilege of working with her for both physical injuries and anxiety, and her care has been truly transformative. Her expertise, combined with her warm and
compassionate nature, makes her an exceptional choice for anyone seeking comprehensive and effective healing."

What is acupuncture?Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most widely practiced medical procedures globally, with roots in Chinese medicine that date back over 3,000 years. The term "acupuncture" refers to techniques that stimulate specific anatomical points in the body. In the United States, acupuncture practices blend medical traditions from China, Japan, Korea, and other countries. The most common method involves inserting hair-thin, solid, stainless steel needles into the skin, which are then manipulated by hand or through electrical stimulation. These needles are single-use, ensuring safety and hygiene.

Does acupuncture hurt?People's experiences with acupuncture vary, but most report little to no pain during needle insertion. Some feel energized after treatment, while others experience a deep sense of relaxation. It’s common to feel a heaviness or mild ache at the acupuncture points, and some may even feel sensations along specific meridians. Given the millions of people treated each year and the vast number of needles used, complications reported to the FDA are rare. When performed by a Licensed Acupuncturist, acupuncture is considered a very safe practice.

How can acupuncture help my digestion?Acupuncture helps stimulate the “rest and digest” response, also known as your parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) in the body. In this relaxed state, blood flow to your digestive tract increases, the salivary gland is stimulated which produces digestive enzymes in the body, intestinal activity increases, and sphincters in the digestive tract relax. In addition to digestive benefits, acupuncture for digestion can increase activation of the PNS and also decreases stress in the body which usually contributes to digestive issues.
